This class is for beginning, intermediate and advanced users of Photoshop Elements who want to learn how to use or get further into the wonders of this outstanding software that permits one to use the digital technology to make better photographic images.
This is not a class on how to use your computer. You must have basic computer skills such as: the ability to turn on and use your computer for basic tasks, to e-mail, to use your mouse, insert a CD or DVD into your computer and open files, know how to save files on your computer etc. To take this class you must have a Laptop Computer with Adobe Photoshop Elements (6 or 7) already installed and ready to use on your computer. You will learn how to maximize the look and appeal of everyday images and you’ll learn how to optimize photographic images to the level of fine art. Topics will include understanding Photoshop Elements icons, tools, filters, resolution, file size, cropping, coloring, photo restoration, photo collages, converting color images to black and white, image sharpening for maximum print quality.
You are encouraged to bring your favorite images on flash drives, memory cards, or CD’s for use in class assignments and exercises. You may register on line, by phone (847-391-5700) on in person any time. Cost is $55. For Des Plaines residents and $69. for non-residents. 38TH ANNUAL PHOTOGRAPHIC SHOW IN SKOKIE
The Chicago Photographic Collectors Society will present its Annual Spring International Camera and Image Show & Sale on Sunday, May 3rd at the North Shore Holiday Inn, 5300 Touhy Ave., Skokie,IL, from 10 A.M. to 3 PM. Admission is $6.00 Donation at the door, children and photo students ( with school I.D.) is $4.00. Camera Club members $5.00 with club I.D. Free parking, free camera appraisals, and free camera check-ups by Kim Camera Service.
According to the show’s manager, Marv Chait, “This is the largest Show of it’s type in the Midwest. Over 70 dealers from around the U.S., Canada and Japan will be available to buy and sell antique, collectable and contemporary cameras, including Digital, antique images and other photographic equipment of all kinds. We suggest that people who have old or unused cameras and photo equipment hidden away in their attics or basements bring them in for appraisals…. They may have real cash value”
Some of the hig hlights of the show will be a display of a rare collection of over 150 Russian made cameras presented by Vladislav Kern, eminent expert on Soviet cameras. Also, Don Goldberg, world renowned Leica repair expert and Robert Rotoloni, President of the Nikon Historical Society, author and Nikon expert will be present.

Wartburg College Choir
CHICAGO
The Wartburg College Choir will perform at Bartholomew Catholic Church at 7 p.m. Friday, April 24. The concert is open to the community, and a freewill offering will be collected. The performance is part of the group’s four-state tour of Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. Lauded by the Washington Post as “a Mighty Fortress of skill,” the Wartburg Choir regularly tours the United States. Every three years, the group embarks on an international tour. In May 2008, the group toured Europe and South Africa. The Wartburg Choir is under the direction of West Noble, conductor in residence. Noble retired in 2005 as choral director at Luther College. He has conducted at more than 700 music festivals throughout the nation and world and is the only conductor to have led All-State bands, choirs and orchestras in all 50 states. Located in Waverly, Iowa, Wartburg is a four-year selective liberal arts college of the Lutheran church, ELCA.
